I thought I had heard that the reason that American Express cards were the most prestigious and hard to get were because all AMEX accounts had to be paid off in full every month ... is that true or was that a credit urban legend?

They do have a couple accounts that you can carry a balance on but Green, Gold and Platinum are PIF monthly. Not sure about the new Plum. They also never forget, if they CO your account, you can neevr re-apply but they do have the Oasis tht will rehab a CO'd account. I think it has to be over $500 though to be considered. thanks for this info. I googled them the other night but didn't get lots of information. I will try again now before heading to work. Can you tell me a bit about this program? Am I understanding correctly that this is an internal Amex program that will allow me to pay off my debt on my Amex card? I don't care if I ever have another Amex card again so that's not a concern. Does my account need to be in collections or charged off first?

I believe that this is for accounts that have been previously charged off. I am going to have my wife try this as well since hers was CO'd in late '03. Since your account is not yet in default, I just don't know.
