Could anyone please give me any information on their experiences with "A New Beginning Financial" (not to be confused with "New Beginnings)? I've been reading about "New Beginnings" from Jupiter, Florida, and heard mixed reviews about that debt settlement company; most of which were negative. "A New Beginning Financial" is a Christian-based organization and is a member of TASC (The Association of Settlement Companies). Their link is anewbf.com. I recently lost my job and I'm concerned that I won't be able to pay my credit card bills which total to over $30K. I've heard that most debt consolidation companies are scams or are not very helpful, so I'm hoping "A New Beginning Financial" is an exception. Thanks.

Have you tried checking them with BBB? Aren't they listed with it?

Anyway, you have heard it just right that most of the settlement companies are scams but there are few good out there too. Only you need to search little harder.

By the way, you want to consolidate your debt or settle. They are entirly different things.

I tried to find them today on the BBB websitw also on the The Association of Settlement Companies roaster and they are there either.
I was going to make an appoinment for a friend of mine but I read some ugly comments on google from a former employee.
I am not sure who to beleive now. They sound very hones to me. I like their web site.

We signed up with A New Beginning Financial in 10/09. After paying up front fees and started in the program, we had no support when we were served court summons for being sued by our creditors. We ended up canceling the program and filed Chapter 7. We are now discharged of our debt and I sleep better at night. We chose ANBF because of the Christian Ministry. There was no support from the "Law firm" behind this program. To respond to the summons will cost you additional fees. The reality was that we could not afford the money required monthly to be put into the settlement account in the first place. ANBF should have done a better job reviewing our income & expense to see if the program would benefit us. We lost a large sum of money and made financial mistakes by seeking ANBF for assistance. We should have gone to a BK attorney from the start.

I have a friend that is very close to signing with ANBF. I promised her that I would review that contract and some info about the company before she signed. What I found on line was very discouraging and appauling considering this is a Christian based company...which is what attracted my friend to this co. in the first place. Anyway...they arent part of the BBB and quite the contrary, the BBB speaks out against them. From what I read, Consumer Credit Counseling of OC comes recommended for that type of business. I think you would be better off going with a company that IMMEDIATELY pays off your debt and then you make payments to the company. THis way the damage to your credit is minimized. I hope this helps.

A true debt settlement company doesn't charge any upfront fees. It is best to negotiate a contingent based settlement based on performance. I used a company that settled my accounts for 25 cents on the dollar and I paid the creditors directly and they only charged a small fee after the settlement was complete. They can be reached at 866-833-6398.
