Already Paid

Arrow Financial came after me years ago when a debt was sold to them. They made an agreement with me over the phone to settle for $2000. I paid them $1000 up front and then made payment arrangements for $101 for the next three months. They told me to call back at the end of the three months to schedule the remaining balance. When I did so, they told me there was no arrangement and I owed approx $3800. At this point I was furious! They then sold my account to someone else, then bought it back, then eventually served me. In the process of it changing hands the balance went up $800 within 3 dyas. When I asked for an explination there was none. They told me they were late fees. After court costs plus the additional $800 minus whatever payments I made in between my balance went up to over $4000. The account has been held with a colletion attorneys office and I will make my last payment this month (March 2011). I have probably paid some where around $10,000 for a credit card that had a $3,500 limit and a balance of less than that. Is there any legal action I can take at this point? I was younger and did not really know my rights when all this started almost 10 years ago. Do I just count this a loss? I did join in the class action lawsuit against Arrow Financial, however I dod not know how that will turn out.
your biggest mistake was not getting the original settlement agr
your biggest mistake was not getting the original settlement agreement IN WRITING.
Did you ever go to court to defend yourself???
