I am wondering if I am able to do a debt consolidation loan with bad credit. I am the only one working in my family and my wife has been unable to work for the past 7 months due to chronic pain. We have been fighting with disability as well. We were married in June of last year and had to use multiple credit cards to pay for the wedding. How can I get help?

Getting debt consolidation loan with poor credit rating is challenging. The interest rate or fees will be high for you. Contact your creditors and negotiate the loan terms by telling your difficulties.

You can apply for a loan through a credit union. Credit unions tend to be supportive with people who are struggling with debt.

However, cut down unnecessary expenses as soon as possible to save some money from your monthly salary. You can talk to a credit counselor for the best suitable advice as well.

The best possible way out of the debt mess is to follow a budget, apply for disability benefits (if you do qualify) and stop using your credit cards at once. Ask for a hike or work part time, it'll supplement your income and enable you to pay off your debts.

Make sure you don't add any more debts at this moment.
