I've been separated with my so to be exhusband(can't afford a divorce)and I have now 40,000 in credit cards that are all in my name only. I've been paying min.payments but it will take YEARS to get rid of it. I don't want to file Bankruptcy cause my credit is good 736,Can the credit card company stop the interest or work out something to reduce the balance? please help

I ended up filling bancrupcy a little over a year ago due to a nasty divorce- I had to he had hundreds of thousands of doctor bills and they were garnishing my wages. I filled on 2 credit cards too. After I filled my credit score went up- I'm sure this dosen't happen to all. It was such a relief to not have the burden of the bills anymore. My attorney suggested it otherwise I would be paying those bills for the rest of my life no one wanted to nagotiate. I would first try debt cosolidation. See if you can get someone else to negotiate for you. If you keep making minimum payments your going to have that finacial burden forever. Good Luck

Maybe you should consider debt settlement if you don't want to go for bankruptcy. You will have to let your accounts be in default for a certain period of time before the settlement company starts negotiating with your creditors. Try to make the payments set in the plan and your accounts will be paid off.
