I had some medical issuses, that cost me my savings, But I will be on meds the rest of my life, I am current with my bills but everyone is raising their rates and 2 cards with 0% will go to 18.99% in two months... I now have about 250-350 a month left over, cut back on cable, phone and going out... ShoudlI call creditors and ask for a hardship and see what they do or stop paying and try and get some sort of settlement, they all add up to about $1100 a month

It all depends on how much debt you have and how much your credit means to you. If you're paying 1100 per month min, I'm guessing 50K in debt and if that is the case it will take forever to pay it off with the min payments. If your debt is not too high, a hardship or consolidation plan may help and save your credit.

If you feel debt settlement is best for you, then I would check out DIY DS section they have on this site. It is easy to get started, just stop paying and put the money away and start saving for a settlement down the road.
