OK ppl, help me figure out strategy here, I am 4 months behind owe 20K. I am a reduce plan for $500 a month (reduced huh?) anyway, I've made some payments here and there but still 4 month behind. How do I approach them for settlement? I am reading 20-25% here. That means only paying like 20 - 25% of loan owned right? How would I go about asking for settlement? Help guys! thanks.

Boa-the snake as we affectionately refer to them is one of the easier to settle out with.

LQQKing back on my spreadsheet they settled at 151 days for about 30%.
You are almost there.

Do not let them cajole, persuade, intimidate or shame you to go on the extended payout....that just keeps the clock ticking on your debt. Stick to your guns....story.....always be polite.

Emphasize with them in their position.
If you get a crappy csr, just hang up and call back.
Tell 'em that you got cut off.....start over.

The strange part is that boa-the snake called after I was a week late on the famous Gold Option line of credit, they called 2-3 times a week after that then went dormant for a couple of weeks so I started calling them.
(Yes, you can become the hunter instead of the hunted!)

Ran through the csr's and then stumbled upon a guy that was in the same boat as me. I seized on the moment to ask him how could we "just square this up and make it go away".....aka settlement. Got the secret number (in the forums) and bam....twas over at 151 days.

Hope this helps,
