my name is francis. how is everybody doing? ok i signed up with the website to get help with my credit card debt with bank of america/fia. i would really appreciate if anybody could help me with this. i was in debt with bank of america for about $19.000. i was making the payments as promised, but one day i made a payment on the same day as the due date, but they only reveived the payment one day later, wich made the APR go from 12% to 21%. called bank of america, explained to them what happened and asked them if i could have the same APR as before, did not succeed at that. so i stopped making payments, because i would never pay it back with such Apr. they kept calling me for about 2 months, but i did not answer the phone, so they tranfered my debt to FIA. FIA called me, i eventually talked to them, and they settled for an eletronic payment plan of $370 dollars a months for 60 months. they took the first payment on 10/17. im the kind of person who checks my account and my credit card accounts on the internet, so i checked my boa credit card statements online and noticed that indeed the money went to the credit card account, but i was still getting charged for late fess and interest fees, so i got a little worried and called boa, they said that only FIA could help me and look into my account. so after reading a few things in hear, im gonna call FIA today and tell them to send me a later that confirms the payment plan with them. but my question is if they refuse to send me this latter, should i close my account and stop making the payments? i have 2 accounts by the way, 1 boa checking account and 1 citizens bank checking acount. i only use the bank of america acount because i have a car loan with them, they take the money out of the account automatically, so 2 days before they take the money, i put the right amount in there, so there isn't any extra money in the account, so they don't steal it or something . what else you think i sould do? any advice is really appreciated. thank you.

Francis, first - please don't listen to these horribly judgemental people. They are probably collections agents themselves, and enjoy insulting people.

Other people will come along and offer some great advice. I had BOA bank accounts for years, no longer trust them, and just closed them and opened accounts elsewhere. I would not give them access to anything unless you have it in writing from them first.

im beginning to feel like there is alot of collectors in here lately. i agree that you need a letter in writing stating your agreement they should send you one. did you call them yet, and if you did what did they say? it would probably be easier to wait till we know what they said before we redirect you to what to do next

Keyko,
Are you defending the same bank that markets credit cards to illegal aliens?
Maybe its the same bank that has been so responsible in their leverage limits to have surpassed 20/1.
Perhaps it is the same bank that has been such a responsible corporate citizen that its in existence today only because it got billions of dollars at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Would this be the same bank whose tier capital ratio's in reality would prove it is insolvent were it not for the allowance of creative accounting techniques that have afforded them the ability to avoid mark to market and maintain off balance sheet accounting?

I am legitimately curious about your position on this.

I GOT A LETTER FROM THEM, BEFORE I MADE THE PHONE CALL, so i'm holding off a little before I make the call, I want to see what your opinions are on this letter before I actually call them. The letter i got from them acknowledges the payment agreement of 60 payments of 370 dollars on a 5% APR. But what seems fishy for me is that they are calling this a "special repayment program"(Nothing wrong with it yet). Then at one part of the letter it says:

THE SPECIAL REPAYMENT PROGRAM WILL CONTINUE FOR SIXTY BILLING CYCLES. AT THAT TIME, OR IF WE DETERMINE THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER ELEGIBLE FOR THE SPECIAL REPAYMENT PROGRAM, THEN ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEXT BILLING CYCLE, YOUR ACCOUNT TERMS, FOR ALL NEW AND EXISTING BALANCES, WILL RETURN TO THE AMOUNTS AND RATES DISCLOSED IN YOUR CREDIT CARD AGREEMENT, AS MAY BE AMENDED.ACCORDINGLY.

looks like they can take me out of the "program"(if it even exists) and put me back on my old cc debt terms pretty much any time they choose to.

I'll try to post this letter here later. I'm not so good with posting stuff on the internet.

any input is deeply appreciated.
