New to the forum and have a few questions. I have 2 CC debts and am current on both as of yet. Next month (and the at least the next several months to follow) I am pretty sure that I will not be able to make my payments. I am self employed and business has not been the same lately thanks to the current state of the economy. I am about 4.5k in with BofA and 14.8k with National City. I have read the settlement process starts around 120 days past due. I have read of few stories of BofA settlements on this site. Are they aggressive when it comes to speaking with them? What about dealing with National City? I haven't seen anything about them in this forum and would just like to hear some settlement stories about these 2 companies. Did you use a settlement company or did you DIY? I am more interested in DIY settlement. Please share your stories, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am the OP and need to also mention that I have lots of secured debt as well as CC, mainly in the form of federal student loans. I can work with them and get on a different payment plan to lower my payments. I also have 2 PRIVATE, NON-FEDERAL student loans, is this considered unsecured or secured debt?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
