is it okay to pay the CA thru automatic withdrawal fr. your checking acct. for your monthly payments after you have made the settlement? are they required to send you a receipt for the said monthly payments that you remit to the CA?

I would never pay this way. That's what the collectors always push for but I absolutely refuse to give my checking account information to ANYONE. Go get a cheap pre-paid credit card and pay them with that. Your statement will be your receipt but, once you've paid the settlement in full, they need to send you a letter stating the account has been settled in full. Do you have your agreement in writing? Did you have the debt validated before agreeing to settle?
