I live in the US but have over $40000 debit in Canada which I was paying until I lost my job. What can the Canadian credit card companies to do me?

A lot of the major canadian banks have a US offices/branches so it would be quite simple for them to sue you here. TD, Royal Bank, CIBC, BofM and Bank of Nova Scotia all have US offices.
