CAPITAL ONE - A new "twist"

Now the account is with Global Credit & Collection. Recently I received a letter from Capital One telling me to contact Global and that I would be connected to a Customer Care Specialist that Capital One has authorized to "help" me.
With this letter was included a Visa debit card for $50 as a "thank you" gift card - no strings attached for calling them! They give you an activation code and a deadline of 1/26.
Can't wait to see what they "offer".

Wait, they're giving you money? Seriously? That's one of the craziest things I've heard yet. It has to be some sort of phishing attempt, don't you think?

No, this is valid. Several members report receiving the gift cards and a show of supposed "good faith" from Capital One.

OK. I took the bait and called them. My account balance is $1378 and is at 150 days. They were only willing to settle at 80%....
Since the balance is so small and I am close to getting into litigation, I made a deal with the devil. I will pay $271 on the 21st; they will give me a good-will credit on my account of $100 (this is in addition to the $50 debit gift card). That will bring my account up to date, and I can pay the minimum or pay extra each month.
This is my last credit card to pay off, so it's worth it to get rid of them.
So as of 1/21 all my credit card accounts will be settled/paid off. Boy, do I feel like celebrating! It was a long(actually a year) and stressful journey, but I made it.:sun:

Capital One is my last credit card to settle also. We have been negotiating with them for a couple of months and I have them down to 70%. Not quite willing to settle for 70% - hoping for at least 50%. Anyone out there settle Capital One for less than 70%?
Aubrey, Good for you getting them all done. I can't wait to say
Aubrey,
Good for you getting them all done. I can't wait to say that.

Yes, I have posted a few times....I settled my husband's $8, 140 cc debt for $4,400.....we had notified them that we were filing bankruptcy and gave them our attorney's phone number.....we changed our minds after a few months, and they settled for the above after 4 months delinquency......I think I had to call a few times and try to get different people....I will try to remember more and ask my husband if he can remember....It was such a trying time...that I just plowed through it and put it out of my mind.....it can be done!
settle with capital one
I'm curous to what was posted to your credit with capital one. Because I have attempted to settle with several of their customer service agents and all of them have informed me that Capital One does not settle account, pay for deletes, or change credit reports in any way unless it was a error on their part. Would love some advice on this one.
Capital One certainly does settle. They sued me for $3300 back
Capital One certainly does settle. They sued me for $3300 back in 2009 and we settled out of court for $1500. However it does report on my credit as 'Paid in Full' but in the comment section it says 'Settled for less then full balance'
