Staggered settlement approach Q

I know I thought that would be a problem too, but it looks like there are several people on the forum who have settled multiple cards over a period of time so I'm simply not going to worry about it. I would cross that road when you get to it.
I think it's important for the creditor to know that you are not able to make payments again - job loss, illness or whatever - I would think they would settle if they know your situation isn't going to change in the near future.

I just answered this in another thread. But if you take the payment plan, none of them know you settled until a month after your final payment. I settled amex on a 6-pay plan and then the rest on 2-3 so nobody had an idea.
However, you are correct that this is an issue. I had a very candid discussion with boa settlement rep who told me if I settled 2 of my 3 and waited on the 3rd that they might pull the offer on the 3rd because the ability to settle the others would show that i could at least make a payment on the 3rd.

Oh boy. See cap one accelerated my charge off dates on both accounts so even though I quit paying all the cards at the same time they are up for settlement sooner by a couple of months. I guess the only fortunate thing is that the 2 big ones will come at the same time and THANKS SO MUCH for the info so that I set up the first of the big ones on payments and then hope to settle the other before it hits. They will be able to see that I am still in a bk position if they don't settle. Wouldn't be the case if the small ones were at the back of the pack.
So I guess the moral of the story is that if you have to settle in batches - do the small ones first so that it still appears you are in a bk position if they don't take it.
