Is Capital One Services LLC considered a collection agency for Capital One Bank, NA?

Received a letter from Cap One Services saying they are a debt collector, original creditor Capital One Bank, but with no 30 day debt validation mentioned. Isnt this a violation of FDCPA.

They do seem tough only taking $400 0ff a $7600 balance, will have to get closer to charge off and see what happens.

Capital One Services, LLC provides credit card services. The company is based in Federal Way, Washington. Capital One Services, LLC operates as a subsidiary of Capital One, National Association.

They are acting as a servicer of prior to charge off accounts....I guess kind of in house collections.

I think this is just a collections department of the Capital One Bank. Still, it would be better for you to seek debt validation on this. You can send a debt validation letter to the agency through certified mail, requesting a return receipt or CMRRR. Other than this, you can also talk to the bank for the details on this account. Furthermore check with your credit reports and take steps so that the account does not get charged off. It hurts your credit.

We settled directly with Capital One Services LLC. I was under the impression it was still Capital One but some sort of internal collection department.

Our one remaining Capital One is still with Allied Interstate. Coming up on 180 days and charge off I guess. The best they will do is original principal which is like $800 off what it is now. (Under $4K). What is going to happen at 180 days? Should we really be concerned about getting an agreement before then? We have settled all 7 of our other cards and just this one straggler. Hate to have one shown as a charge off if we can help it but if that is the only way to the get a better deal then we may have to. Not sure why they are digging in so hard. We settled at 55% on the other Capital One card. :(

The account I settled at about 55% was only $2200. I asked if that made a difference in why the would settle the one but not the other that was slightly larger ($3200) and they said no. So who knows what game they play. Seems to me if they understand you can't pay and are settling one why not settle the other too. My circumstances are not any different from one account to the other.

I was about 130 days late at the time. So you may be in a good spot to try something with Capital Services. Are you calling 800-955-6600? That was the number I had.
