indian accent. he said he was an officer and calling on behalf of cashnet. the no was a newyork no. when icalled the no back no one it was dissconnected.later i found out he was calling family members giving all kinds of personal information on me.He left a no 6468451902. A man answered first saying he was in actually in California with a similar accent, not newyork.When i started asking questions he denied knowing anything

It's a scam. Not a real collection agency. A fellow in Kansas City bought a bunch of old payday loans and hired an Indian call center to extort money from people. They use the information in the files to convince you its a real debt, that you're gonna go to jail, etc. Not much you can do about it since they're in India (the California number is just where their VOIP connection terminates) so best bet is to avoid the calls. Eventually they move on to the next victim and leave you alone.
