Your debt doesn't sound too bad yet, a debt consolidation loan sounds like a pretty good idea, being that you're dealing with less than $2,000. Or maybe keep your eyes open to transfer those balances to another card with a promotional 0% or very low APR and really concentrate on paying them off before the promo period runs out. I have done that successfully in the past, just don't be late with even 1 payment by even 1 day, or your apr will go right back up again. Will only work if you can afford those payments for sure. Better to nip those balances now before they get too out of control- it's easy to let happen!

I've been thinking about closing all card accounts and setting up a 6month-1year payment plan Perhaps I can see about getting them to stop late fees and overlimit fees to pay them off faster. Not sure if this is advisable though. Anyone have experience doing this?

If they will do that it will be great for you, but considering that your amounts are so small(even though you dont feel they are) they may not be that willing to help. usually these types of small ones are the worst to deal with. but you might get lucky call and see what they say.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to try, I mean, if you can't pay, you can't pay, no matter what the balance. Maybe miss a payment or two to show them that you can't pay, and them explain to them that just can't afford to pay what you owe, but you are very interested in paying them off, what can they do to help? Rather than receiving nothing they may offer you a good deal. I think it's worth trying.
