I have a delinquent cc, but also have a charge on it that I feel could be disputed; it is for services rendered that were never finalized (payment to an attorney for $4K). My concern is if I dispute this charge it may adversely affect me working with the OC on any type of settlement? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would it be advisable to talk with the OC about this issue or just let it go and concentrate on dealing with the OC on a settlement? Or maybe send the attorney a certified letter stating my requests; he has unanswered my vm and email.

No, the charge was unrelated to delinquent acct (other than being a charge on the cc). It was for family law services, but I never went thru with the case and now the attorney will not refund any of the $4K retainer.

I am 60 days delinquent on cc, and am concerned if I dispute this charge it may effect me being able to work some sort of settlement with the cc company. I'm not even sure if legally an attorney is required to refund a portion of a retainer.

No, this has nothing to do with the acct being delinquent (except that it is a charge on the cc). The charge was for family law attorney; but I dropped the case. I requested a partial refund of the $4k retainer from the attorney; without success. I am concerned if I dispute this charge with the cc, that it may effect my changes of hopefully working out some sort of settlement with them. I am currently about 60 days late. Has anyone had a similar situation? Thanks.
