Debt Consolidation

I was wondering if a debt consolidation loan is the way to go. I have just changed jobs and will be in training for the next 4 months. I am working 2 jobs but the new job will alleviate a lot of my 2nd jobs hours because of training. I do not have any credit cards but work now for minimum wage which I wasn't doing before.
I guess the question is, if I don't have very good credit and I don't have credit card debt, will I be better off trying for a debt consolidation loan, going thru consumer credit counseling or filing for bankruptcy.
I really don't want to do the latter.
thanks, Ivan

Only as a heloc or something secured...in which event you probably would not need consolidating. In my case, before I was late on my cc's, my interest rates were great so there was no benefit to consolidate. I just had far too much debt.
