Citibank can and will sue you for $6500...I have seen them for do it under $1000. Citi is extremely agressive...if you look thru the forum here you will see that citi files a lot.

We had about $8K with Sears/Citi and at about 120 days late they turned us over to their recovery department (law firm of Allen Adkins). We just settled @ 50% as I was concerned about them filing a lawsuit. Is the account still being handled by Sears/Citi or has it been turned over to someone else?
The chances of a lawsuit during the first 6 months of non-paymen
The chances of a lawsuit during the first 6 months of non-payment are negligible, and you can use that window of time to negotiate a much better deal.
What % did you settle with Discover for?

It was still with Citi but they have not called me in 2 weeks now so I wonder if it was turned over to another collection firm. Today my payment is due. Really can afford it since I am supposed to be going to physical therapy 3x a week for 4 weeks at $20 a visit. Which is more important??!! I am so confused on what to do at this point.
