what is the steps in settling credit card debt, as opposed to bankruptcy. I have become disabled and my wife is loosing her job in 3 weeks

Give us some more information about your debt...who you owe, how much you owe and we can answer you better. Also reach the forum....you will get a lot of information that way.

Basically my steps for debt settlement were somewhat out of my control. when my income dropped 70% I could no longer pay the minimums. Tried getting them to reduce interest rates repeatedly and they said no. So I had to stop paying them. At that point looked into bankruptcy. Came across this forum and decided I could sell things and get money from elsewhere and as the payments got more and more behind I decided to offer them a settlement in lieu of bankruptcy and they accepted. I still have one to settle but the rest are now done and were all done with a couple of weeks of each other.
