Court tomorrow with CCV Credit International Need advice plz

I have court tomorrow for a NSF check for $278 in 2003. Plaintiff is Credit International dba CCV. I have faxed letter to thier attorney offering $200 with no response. My sole income is my SS Disability & I have sent them proof. I'm trying to clear up my credit history & cannot afford a judgement. If I get a judgement against me I will not qualify for the USDA home buyers program. If I am not mistaken I think they may have bought this debt. How do I defend myself or get proof this debt was assigned to them? Any help is appreciated.
