I just got off the phone with a rep with my debt settlement company, and asked them about cease/desist letters to stop calls to friends and family, and she basically said that that speeds up the agencies responses to take further legal action.

Is that generally the case in anyone's experiences?

I can't comment specifically on C&D's as I never sent one. But what I did start to do was include in my DV's a section that basically gave my current address and phone number (cell phone) and told them to use that to contact me. Also said my employer doesn't want me taking personal calls and to never contact me at work.

Creditors/CA's are only supposed to be able to "call around" in order to try and locate you. I figure if I have sent them my contact info in a certified letter w/return receipt, they have no reason to be calling anyone else and if they do I could show they are only doing it to harass me!

I think if you send a C&D to not contact YOU at all you may speed up the process leading to being sued. But I can't speak from personal experience.
