I have a charge off for 5000 and it's pass 7 1/2 years. Do I still have to pay? If I don't, how do I get it off my credit report. I looked up the Statue of Limitations for the State(NC) it was in and I still can't understand it. One said 3 years and other said 10 years? I thought it was 7? Can someone help me with this dilemma?

It has been more than 7.5 years since you paid on it? The reporting statute is 7 years. The NC SOL for taking legal action is 3 years. You still owe the debt and they can attempt to collect but they cannot enfore it in court.

Credit report shows it was opened in Feb 2003, Iso feb 2011 would be 8 years. I've been hearing that after 7 years it would be off my credit report. Is that true?

It was opened with the original creditor in 2003? Or with a CA?

It was opened with the original creditor in 2003? Or with a CA? With the creditor it would be seven years from the date of the last payment.

Credit Report shows date opened 2003, but got it reposessed in 2005. Which one do I go by? The credit report or the repo date. I originally owe 15000 but it was resold and I owe 5000. And what is a CA?
