chase bank sue mother with dementia

my mother, who is 86yrs old and living with my brother, is being sued by chase bank for a credit card amount of 4700. the only income she has is her social security and my fathers retirement which does not cover her living expenses. what can we do to stop this. my mother has dementia and can not remember anything about this debit.

Does she own property that they are looking to lein?
Someone has to answer the summons and show up in court. The social security would be exempt but the retirement would not be.
