I owe 27,000 to Citibank, they sent me a letter saying they would settle for 7,000 but want it in full or by 90 days which obviously if I had 7,000 I wouldn't be in this situation, the other option they gave me was $487 a month for 5 years, which was my payment before I stopped paying was $500 too much for me to pay. they said if I don't pay something by DEC 16th they will sue. I am scared and nervous. Anyone have any advice or have been thought the same thing?
also in the letter said I can make payments but when I called she said yeah payments but it has to paid in full by 90 days
Thanks for any advice
Tara

Just remember that the $20k you'll save in the settlement will have to be claimed as income when you file your taxes. I had a Citi account and it's now with Allen Adkins. I just sent them a letter requesting verification of the debt. They did attach a copy of an old statement but that isn't verification.
