I have received a civil action hearing notice from Midland Funding LLC for debt unpaid from 2007? I have never been involved with anything like this before. Can your recommended lawyer or strategy?

If you really owe the debt, then it would better to settle the debts before the court hearing. You can call Midland funding and inform that you want to settle the debts. If they agree, then draw up a written settlement agreement and pay off the debt on the condition that they will withdraw the case. If they don't agree, then answer the summons properly and consult a lawyer regarding this issue. I can't recommend you a lawyer but you can get a list of lawyers from the website of state's bar association.
