i got a payday loan in dec 2008. it was online and the company name was money and more. my account became overdrawn and the payment never came out. a few days ago i got a call from california that they are going to press criminal charges on me unless i pay over 400 by the end of the month or over 600 of i want to make payments and pay of by the end of next month. they said there is a 250 monthly fee for it not getting paid off by this month. i live in ohio and i would love to take care of it but the original lender is out of business. they told me someone bought it from the lender and the collection agency is the one wanting to sue. i asked them to mail me information and they said they could email but the only thing they will mail is the summons which will be civil with a fraudulent check charge. id ont know what to do? i dont want to get criminal charges.

Relax....they cannot file criminal charges against you...debts are civil, not criminal. However you can take action by reporting them to your local police department, the FTC and your state AG's office. What collection agency is calling you? THeir phone number??

the lady said their name was The Law office of Fisher and Associates. When I called they answered Law Office. they called from 714-703-6477. they told me to call back 866-878-3220. is there a statue of limitations for something like this in ohio? someone told me there was but i wasnt sure. i wanted to deal with the original place that i tookt he loan out with but their website doesnt exists and they numbers are disconnected.

Who did you borrow from? How much did you borrow? How much did you pay back before you supposedly defaulted?

a quick google search says this is a bottomfeeding scam.i understand the want to clear things like this up,but this is an illegal lender,and you might not owe anything.here do this.first report this dirtpile as they broke the law hand over fist.then provide the info ohiogal requested.as i said before you might not owe jack on this,but never pay a voice over the phone.especially one that breaks the law.
