I'm looking at my current credit card statements and the urge to kick my own ass is quite intense. I wouldn't be so disgusted with myself had I not done this once already. Except last time I was only $10,000 in debt. This time it's almost twice that.

But on a brighter note, I paid it all back before using a debt management program, and I will again. I just have to brace myself for the hit my credit will take when I enroll because that's what happens when you get help when not in arears. Unfortunately, I can't continue to pay every card on a monthly basis because too much money is going out and no progress is being made. I'd rather take the initiative now tha wait until I'm totally desperate.

I'm hoping this will be the last time I learn this lesson. This is the abbreviated story because the long version is just too long.

:)

Aww kit, been there myself, I remortgaged after a divorce and was home free of debt except for the mortgage, and regular living expenses like utilities, groceries and such. It was not 6 months that I did have more debt, dealing with it now. I guess I just wanted to spend a little on myself and got out of hand. I am about free of it again, hard lesson learned AGAIN. but I am not remortgaging, lol. Hang in there, sometimes we just want to live, we work and feel we deserve things, even though we can't afford them. Since this is the second time around, we should be twice as smart, lol. Don't mean to make light of it, but why beat yourself up, whats done is done and at least your taking the steps to fix your problem. Goodluck and hang in there, you will be fine. You can always come here for support. Brighter days ahead!

I too find myself in the same situation! Got into debt got myself out and right back in again! Its so annoying but I guess this is all part of life! HArd to stay out of debt when you can barely pay your necessities...of couse I should never have gotten myself back into debt. I shall too survive this!

Welcome to the Community Kit :D I have been there too, and hopefully learned what got me ther to begin with! Don't beat yourself up-sounds like you learned the lesson, too. Once we learn the lesson of what got us there, we can do different things. I also learned to be content with what I have, instead of wanting something I can't afford. Now, I pay cash, or don't go or do!! Once I paid things off, it's amazing how much more money I had, not paying all the creditors, not that I am swimming in money, but you get the idea!!..Karen

Well, my love of spending and keeping up with the Jone's so to speak landed me in a divorce and bankruptcy over five years ago. You would have thought I would have learned from my mistakes? No, I got caught up in the PDL cycle and racked up debt to become free of them. That wasn't too smart on my part but I've learned from it this time around. I am now pdl free and I'm working on becoming debt free. Yes, there have been setbacks but I look at them as more lessons learned. My credit has taken a hit from a blotched debt settlement program but I'm also trying to rebuild that. I just paid of a car and two credit cards bills. Now, we are putting that money back each month to take a nice vacation next year. Or if something pops up, we should be able to take care of it. Karen, you are right about paying cash. That's how I am now. I do have one credit card that I use on a monthly basis to help rebuild my credit but only a small amount that I pay off when I get the bill. :)

Yep, I am another one of those that found themselves back in trouble again and am working, again, to get myself back out. This site has been a blessing. I think we all go through that, unfortunatley. It is so easy to find yourself back to where you began without realizing that you are doing it.
