I have been summoned to court for debts for 2 dates same credit card company 2 separate cards, and I have been advised to file my appearance and ask for a continuance so a friend of mine who is a lawyer can represent me. Unfortuantely he cannot be there on the first court date. Can I consolidate these 2 court dates when filing my appearance and continuance?

File a motion with the court to delay the court date. If you don't, the plaintiff will get a default judgment.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this will jump in and clarify or correct me.
