After going into default once, the lawfirm raised my monthly payments from 50 to 100 dollars a month, but I continue to pay 50 cause that is all that I can afford. Since I am paying lower than they want could I go into default again?

If it is a court order, you will have to pay according to the payment arrangement set by the court. If your financial situation changes, you can always file a motion with the court to lower your payments. Otherwise the creditor may do so.
