Which one of the two will be a little easier on my credit? By doing either one of these is it going to destroy my credit for years to come?

They can both hurt your credit.
Settleing accounts will definately hurt it more however. It will reduce your debt the most and you can rebuild your credit.
Which every way you decide to go please do your research on any company you choose. Don't just check the BBB because I don't feel that it always reliable. Put the name in a search engine and look for user reviews.
