how can I increase my credit score, I recently got divorced and lost everything, also my daughter became ill and I had to stay at home and care for her. Now I am working a less paying job, lost my home and my credit report is a 450-500. I always had good credit before this took place. Help! Who can I call or sign up with to repair my debt and increase my credit score. I do owe a lot of people but I can't keep up with the payments. what is you're suggestion? Thanks Nichole

You can sign up with a company like Lexington Law that will repeatedly challenge things on you credit report at your discretion or you can do it yourself if you have the time and the incentive. You should also get a secured credit card from your bank and pay the balance in full EARLY every month. That will add to your score. Stay away from companies like HSBC and Orchard Bank who want to give you a "second chance." The temptation will be to great to max them out and they are awful to deal with. They pile on charge after charge. It is going to take a lot of self control and self disipline but you can do it. If you have any high interest accounts that are still open, cut the cards up so you don't use them. Eventually the bank will offer you a credit line and other companies will too. I am embarking on the same journey right now.
Also you can opt for the "free consultation" that is located to the side of this page a speak to a consolidation expert who will determine a good program for you. They are all rated by the members of this forum.
Good luck

Welcome to the Community :D Beware of anyone who says they can fix your credit! Any negative report stays on 7 years, unless it it wrong. You,yourself, can dispute inaccurate items with all three credit bureaus. The best way I found to do the credit repair, is to work at paying off my bills, paying on time, etc. This is hard, and takes alot of work, but can be done. I am almost completely out of debt since coming to this forum, but it took alot of sacrifice and hard work, and time. Good Luck-Keep us posted..Karen
