Debt Consolidation good and bad?

I'm able to work really hard and climb out of my hole but i'm very interested in the debt consolidation. I'm sure i'll find out more when i get the call but i'm so excited i thought i would ask.

Bankruptcy - makes your credit really really friggin ugly
However, not paying bills at all does not make a pretty picture on your credit either, so your credit recovering from the consolidation or settlement is a possibility for the future!

The advantages of consolidation is that you can get your interest rates lowered. There are a lot of great non-profit agencies out there that can do this at a minimal fee.

Usualy even more depending on sales but even if that doesnt happen I think we can trim 100 off my wife check that we use for the rest of our living expense. I'm not quite ready to through in the towel. I was close but see it all in front of me as a goal that seems reachable really gives me a boots!
