I just spent two hours reading on this forum...
what a great resource!!!

My reason for being here is
70,000 in unsecured debt.
I had a real estate nightmare and woke up with
a credit nightmare.....
I am trying to find a reputable and high quality debt settlement firm, or the cajones to do it myself.... anyone with some experiences good or bad? Advice?
I have been doing some serious due diligence, but would like to have real people feedback on personal experience--
I am looking seriously at Curadebt--seems they have a fair fee structure and a good standing with bbb and have been in business for a while.....(most others just want their fees up front and I guess I'm supposed to hope they are still around in 34 months to settle my last account.....)

Or can I really do this alone and expect similar results? It would seem that if I am to pay a company $8000 to get me out from under this, how much sooner would I have funds and leverage if I was just banking the money??? I am probably much braver than I am knowledgeable on dealing with creditors and collectors.

Help!!!

When negotiating on your own, first you need to call your creditors and make them aware of your situation. Negotiate on the repayments and see their response. They always want to get back their money and if you call them first, your chances to negotiate will be better. There are tips on self negotiations in the DIY section.

If you are in need of professional help, take quotes from different settlement companies and do a thorough research before finalizing the right one. I will recommend Superior debt relief and Forgetadebt.
