Is credit answers a scam?
Not happy with their response. I signed up for their program and they drew out their first month allotment from my bank account. When I was served a summons by one of the credit card companies, I faxed it and called my "coach." I received no reply, email or phone call. I called back left numerous messages on various phone numbers with no reply. I finally called the enrollment line, which they answered, and I complained. They then called back, said my "coach" was out on a family matter. They had nothing in place to help me or check his correspondence while he was gone for three weeks. Mean time, I had to handle the issue with out the assistance they promised. I am not happy and expressed this to them in an email and have not heard back. I think I'm out the money i provided with nothing to show. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. Lots of promise, not much delivery. So, is credit answers a scam?
Credit Answers scams
I enrolled in their service because they guaranteed that my debt at the time would be cut in half and my debt would be settled in less than 18 months. Fact of the matter is they charged me nearly $4,000 in fees and settled one debt.
When in the program, you are assigned a "coach" that handles your account and works with negotiators to settle your accounts. This person is responsible for calling you at least once a month with updates about your creditors. Again, the fact of the matter is I had six coaches in six months. I never received a call from any of my coaches introducing themselves, but rather I had to call and find out that my latest coach had left the company...all of them ahd either been fired or quit.
I finally received a coach that worked there for more than a month. I asked him if I was close to settling with any of my creditors, but instead of getting a straight answer, I was met with double talk that got me and my debt nowhere. I finally was fed up enough that I contacted my creditors and negotiated deals with each of them that are better than those ever suggested by Credit Answers.
In short, they make money by dragging out your debt as long as possible in order to collect the monthly fee. What they fail to mention is that the money you pay in fees is equal to the amount you save with your creditors...so you aren't saving a dime. Check Credit Answers BBB reports - there are also complaints against this company.
How to find out about Credit Answers scam
keep in mind that choosing a company if that is what you are looking to do should take some time to fully research the companies. Check for any Credit Answers complaints before you start working. You didn't get this debt over night so take the time to be sure that the company is good and has a good track record. A sensible way to do this would be to check Credit Answers BBB reports. Choosing the wrong company as most of you know will only make your situation worse
Credit Answers
I am working with Ryan Mueller. He is very professional and to the point with care and understanding. Everything is upfront and I have no fears. I checked out another company three months ago called State Capital Financial and THAT company scared me to death. It was sorta shady, vague, and AFTER I signed on the dotted line, I almost had a heart attack from reading the bad stuff they had done to others like me, so Ryan at Creditanswers.com has given me faith again to try to do this debt settlement. Nothing is guaranteed and it too years for me to get my credit card debt so messed up with some of my own doing and not my fault. Back to Creditanswers.com......it is easy to understand, no pressure, just facts, and I have 10 days to get out of it even before the first pull and after that I can get out of it but won't get to keep the pulls before that though. That is understood. Also, I will bug THEM to death with any question that I don't understand, and I will not lay back and not have a coach be there for me when I paid for it. Ryan did say that they had thousands of happy clients and about 72 Credit Answers scam reports that any company might have to deal with. Clients can be a pain to them too, right? I am trying to be honest and fair here too. I have to trust someone, and Ryan at CA.com is my choice. Bankruptcy is a bad taste in my mouth and I would rather attempt to get my debt improved once and for all with Ryan helping me (and the coach(s) on the team). Trust me though, it is my money, my debt, and my future. IF anyone drops the ball handling my finances worse that I have been doing will definitely have to deal with me day after day like a creditor would or could do to any one of us trying to get out from under the cc companies and their greed. I paid on time and was never ever late or overlimits. They sent me a note saying I could use the card but it would go to 24% and it was 9.9%. OR I could never use the card and pay on it at same 9.9%. I opted to not use the card and then do debt settlement because down the road the cc companies (before July 2010) are going to raise the rates on us again to where we can't make the payments this time, and if I go to a debt settlement company at that time I won't be able to handle the pulls monthly. You have to have a good attitude and trust your debt settlement helper/company or else why do it. I checked into Ryan and all is great and I don't have any Credit Answers complaints to make.

Good luck to all of you too! It is a terrible time for all of us here in America. Time to live without cc debt........yes, someday in the future.

The rule of thumb is, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Check out complaints about Credit Answers before you sign their program.

Please be very careful! I am a third party debt collector and all day long I hear stories of people who have signed up with these agences, only to discover, NOT only are you paying a fee (monies you don't have) but the collection calls DO NOT STOP. Here's why, most large banks WILL NOT work with these agencies. Let's say you owe $5000 on a card, why would a bank except $20/month forever to pay this off? Would you accept that amount if someone owed you money? NO. So what happens is you are paying this company to "manage" your creditors, this company tells you to STOP paying your cards so you can build up monies with them. Now your credit is trashed and going lower! When you finally have funds built up, after the company fees are removed, the company MAY or may not contact your creditors. You are still getting phone calls and letters, because BY LAW no bank or creditor has to work with these agencies, the creditors agreement is with YOU.
What can you do? You can be proactive and contact the creditors yourself and work out hardship plans. The creditor will be more receptive to someone who is proactive and takes responsibility. I should know, that is what I do for a living now. I have assisted a lot of people who thought NO ONE would listen. The cost-$0. Just your time!
Good luck and I hope my experience both as a collector and someone who owes debt as well and has worked out my own plans, is of some assistance to you.

that is absolutely not true. every creditor told me they would not work with the settlement co that i used and all of them did but 1 and i had alot of debt. and as for your credit tanking most people that have large debts credit is tanked anyhow and frankly they usually cannot afford the hardship programs that are offered that is why they choose settlement.
I still did recieve a few calls, but not as many as i was. Most places settled and settled quickly most of my settlements were done around 1 year with a 3 that just hung in there for a while longer and 1 did end up suing me in court but would not even negotiate with me at all not even a little i was even willing to pay the origional debt just asking them to waive the fees and they refused. so sometimes no matter what you do they will not help you but this is usually not the normal.
Not saying that talking to the creditors and trying this first is bad, because its not. I usually recommend people to do that first, but alot of time they get no results that they can work with thats why they look into settlement most people have tried that route and have failed.
Credit Answers fraud
credit answers has scamed my 80 year old mother, they have taken alot of money from her.they have not settled but one of her credit cards. she has paid twice as much to this company then what her credit cards are. they have taken fee after fee. they act like your best friend, when they want your money. all it is is a scam. how could they scam my 80 year old mom like they have... they tell you anything and then they use every excuse. oh your coach left. oh i am your new coach. but then the new coach says different things then the first. they call to settle after they feel they want to settle. when my mom asked them they said oh not yet. they have no respect for the elderly. talk about taking advantage of my 80 year old mom they did. they told her things that this company has not lived up to... there book says one thing and the coach says another. they have taken 4,000 plus from my mom and they have not done there job. this is so wrong, please do not get envolved with this company... it is a scam........ i think the better business burea should let more people know about complaints against Credit Answers. channel 7 , the attorney general. pleas write to all them and stop Credit Answers scams immediately before it happens to someone you know....

I am writing you as an ex employee of Credit Answers. I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER recommend Credit Answers or any other "settlement company". THey are ALL designed to collect money up front. By the way, their salespeople, which was my position, are payed according to when you pay your first few payments. So, obviously, they will tell you anything to get you to make a few payments. They really provide no help in settling your debts. Think about it. If you stop paying your debts, at some point, they will settle with you. They don't want to sue you anymore than you want to be sued. They WILL settle. Especially after you are in the program for a couple of years.
Do NOT hire a settlement firm. They have no interest in helping you settle your debts. They want your money and nothing else.
BTW, when they tell you not to talk to your creditors, there is a reason for that. Your creditors will settle directly with you, and Credit Answers doesn't want you to do that because you will stop paying them their money and settle yourself.

I think it is funny when everyone on this list hasn't admitted they are the problem! None of the companies ran up the credit cards and none of the banks stopped you before it got out of hand, so why take your spite out on a company that probably does help customers who actually admit they messed up and will accept the consequences that come with it. Bankruptcy is no picnic and most people can't afford the credit couseling or debt consolidation either. Bottom line is to not max out every card in your wallet and take financial responsibilty for a change. Seriously do you think debt just goes away if you cry like babies?

Hi there,
Noteworld is actually a financial institution that debt settlements use as the third party agency that handles your payments. For example, the payments you make go to noteworld and sit in your trust account, then any funds that are owed to the company you are with, Noteworld pays them their cut.
Being in the consumer financial resolution business for 8 years now, I have never heard of any company selling someone's debt to Noteworld, as they are solely a financial institution for settlement companies, not the actually company that settles your debt.
Hope that helps!

This company is a SCAM!!!!! Just like the past employee stated, they take your money and do NOTHING! I could have ..not paid my accounts (which they told me to do) and received a settlement ON MY OWN, without paying credit answers over $2,000. MY MISTAKE!! Now I have to file bankruptcy. STAY AWAY!!!!!! They make it sound like the creditors wont send you a settlement amount if you don't sign up, but they will. You're better off doing it on your own and not paying these SCAM ARTISTS money to send you an email once a month and let your credit score go to hell!

:confused:I have had the same problem. My "coach" had not called since July, I made several attempts to contact them by e-mail and phone. Daniel said she had several records of attempting to contact me. This had not happened until the end of November and one attempt in October. I finally was able to discuss with her my "fees" and negotiations, I was then informed that I have only paid them over 4000.00 and no savings were accrued for my debt. This company provided no service for me and I still have a debt that must be paid and a loss over 4000.00.

I just graduated the program successfully and did it by not being scared. About the refunds, they clearly explained that when i got into my program. I can't beleive people would actually base info or not use a company due to a few blogs. Blogs from someone who obviously lost everything and wanted money. Also, sounds like a employee that lost their job and is mad at the world. Obviously the rest of them are doing their jobs correctly if they are still a company and if people like me are graduating their programs.

I am working with this company right now and am very happy! Jaime, the credit specialist that first explained the program to me was very nice, helpful, and everything she said is what is really happening. They advised me ahead of time that the credit calls would start and continue, because you are not telling your credit companies up front that you are working with an agency. They are less likely to settle if they know that up front. So, to avoid this, I used a phone number that I was eliminating anyway. I'm sure the calls are coming in somewhere, but not to me!
Also, as far as settling your debt in the projected time, that requires some discipline on your part as well. You are responsible for saving the money you're not paying to the creditors so you can be ready to settle on your lowest balance account as quickly as possible. You have to take some responsibility here.
In my opinion, this is the best option! You can avoid bankruptcy and still keep a credit card if you'd like, to continue building credit while you are eliminating the other debt. Plus, all they are really doing is helping you pay the debt you owe without allowing the cc companies to gorge you with the ungodly interest they want to tag on top of what you already owe them.
The packet they sent me spelled everything out and if you follow what they suggest to do, you will have no issues. GREAT company in my opinion!

As far as settling your debt, that requires some discipline on your part as well. YOU are responsible for saving the money that you're not paying to the creditors so you can be ready to settle on your lowest balance account as quickly as possible. The fees you pay CA are only to compensate them for the fact that because they are so big and have so many clients, they can negotiate a MUCH better deal than you could ever hope to get on your own. But YOU have to save the money. They specifically say they don't do that part for you. I joined at the end of November and am just about ready to settle my first cc, because I put aside the $500 a month that I'm not having to pay to the creditors right now.

Why not just stop paying and change your phone number. It only costs a few bucks and by the time the creditors get the number again, if ever you can change it again. If you have unforseen financial troubles there's no need to pay on the credit card at all. Put your home in your kids name, borrow a few bucks against your car from one of those title loan companies to keep it from being repossessed and you're all set. Give yourself a break. Don't go with these fly by night outfits that just cause more financial pain.

Guys, LISTEN to your credit specialist and READ your agreement with them. If you start a settlement program and dont finish, you will be worse off than before, if you finish you will be out of debt. Period. The people complaining are those who did not pay attention. Credit Answers is a FULL DISCLOSURE company, they tell you UP FRONT ALL of the negative things that COULD happen and you have to make the decision to apply. There is no doubt that this program is not for everyone, but weigh the alternatives, and if your options are limited then it most likely means that settlement COULD work well for you. BUT FINISH IT IF YOU START. And as far as your coaches go, if someone doesnt answer my voice mail, I call again... If you dont like their answer, call their management.

I was in their program and this people didn't do anything for me. I paid them $2,500 and they only settle one account saving me only $400. They changed my coach without notifing me. I called my old coach and I never received an answer. Finally, they told me that they have changed my coach. I left him numerous messages to call me back, but he never did. When I got to talk to him he said that hw was working on setteling another account. I recieved an offer to settle that account for 50% of the balance. I did reject that offer and told my coach that I wanted out of the program and to stop withdrawing money from my bank account. After I have fire Credit Answers I have been able to to reach to a settlement agreement with 4 credit cards companies. Including the one I received an offer of 50% of the balance, I got that one settle for 35%. Another account was settle for 29%. This people don't even try to to get you the best settlement offer. My advise is that do NOT give these people one more cent and do it yourself, it is free.

Credit Answers offers bad advice for exorberant fees!
Their first piece of advice is to stop paying on your bills and allow them to fall into delinquency.....wrecking your credit score.
They reqeust that during that time and ongoing you save the money you would have used to pay on your bills (up to $10,000.00) and at the same time pay them your fees which is around $3000.00.
If you can afford to save that money and pay the fees you should be able to pay off your debts yourself! If you can't then bankruptcy would be a better and less costly option.
