You know, I have a lot of CC debt. Honestly, I know it wasn't the right thing to do to keep maxing them out and opening new ones (and, yes, the still kept giving them to me) - but for years I kept up the minimum payments - as long as I still could use the cards it all worked out. When things started crashing last fall and most of my cards shut me down at whatever the current balance was I started to pay a bit more attention to just how much of that monthly payment actually went toward the debt. Not much. Although I still have income I have no usable credit and must now use the cash I have to live. I was really hoping to get them all to work with me - lower payments and interest rates - but the harassing calls are pushing me over the edge. 20 calls today already? Even from ones I'm not behind on? Do they WANT me to declare bankruptcy to get me off their books or something? I'd like to handle this in a calm, rational way and work it out with everyone but I am not getting the feeling they will allow that. Do you know what I mean?

I'm sorry! Credit cards can be evil! I remember when I was in my early 20s I had every major card there was plus a zillion store cards. Of course I couldn't afford them and ended up hurting my credit. I did manage to take care of them eventually, and now 15 years later my credit is actually really good, but I wish I had contacted a consolidation company.
Have you considered debt consolidation? It really might work for you. That way you could have one monthly payment and make things a lot easier on yourself emotionally and financially!

im under the impression that the card companies are getting scared. Alot of my cards are all reducing my line of credit or canceling them. but the other day one that canceled my account offered me a "settlemet" if i paid half they would wipe it away paid in full. I was not late, i was paying every month.

I believe they just wanted my account off thier boards because i had no credit on that card and they worried i may not pay it i guess.
