I had a law suit filed against me by a law firm (on behalf of a credit card company) in a county court in Maryland. The day of the hearing, the case was dismissed by the judge. About six months later, I received a summons form a second law firm (representing the same credit card company for the same debt), but in a different Maryland jurisdiction. Is this legal?
baffled:confused:

Actually, I don't know, but I don't think so. I was unable to attend the hearing due to illness. I called the court house the morning of the hearing to request a hearing change. I was told that they would give the message to the judge and I would hear back in writing. I received a notice from the court about three days later stating that the case had been dismissed, and that there were financial charges (ie: attorney fees, late fees, actual amount of debt, court fees).
