I had a payday loan company's collector call me threatning to press charges against me. I truly don't even remember borrowing this loan and ask could they forward the documentation to me. I told them there's no way I would try to steal money for a payday loan company. I have been caught up in the payday loan mess for years. They said I needed an attorney, and that they could forward the information to my attorney. I spoke with an attorney, and he said it was a criminal act for them to contact me with such charges. I don't know what to do? Any any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

i thought that was you who answered in the other post you asked this question.you are in PA right?

Larry, I'm sure it is illegal for them to call and threaten you like that. Have you sent them a DV letter you are entitled to receive validation that this is in fact your debt. Make sure you send it registered mail return receipt requested so you have proof that they received it.

Hope this helps,
Johnita

okay, i just received a phone call with the company threatening to send a policeman to my work to have me arrested for 2 payday loans that I honestly do not remember doing. the 2 payday loans were for the same place which I don't see the company giving me two at one time. i thought you paid one off to get another one if at the same company. Also the number this "andrew mcdonald" gave me was questionable. I tracked the number he gave me to a Cathy Ventura in texas. A 60 year old woman. I don't know what to do. I asked the man to provide me with documentation that I had actually taken out the loans and he told me he couldn't until after the loan had been paid. I don't know who to contact about this. The payday loan was suppose to be with a Universal Cash Advance?? Can someone please help me?

Contact your Attorney General's office and file a complaint, whatever state you are in google it, you can file a complaint online. Also file a complaint with the FTC, the link to file a complaint online is in my signature. Please do this, it's very important that consumers report these illegal practices by creditors and collection agencies.
