Hi Griffin -
Welcome to the forums!
I'm sorry to hear about your situation - it's unfortunate that many marriages are this way today - both parties bring debt to the marriage, and it's difficult to overcome sometimes, depending on the amount of each one's debt - but not impossible!
If you signed up for the free counseling session when you registered for this site, you will receive a phone call from a consultant who will offer debt consolidation or settlement programs. You are under no obligation to use their services - you can seek out another firm, or look at reducing your debt load on your own.
If you decide to go with a debt settlement or consolidation firm, be sure to check their reputation with the Better Business Bureau and local sources first. Be sure they have a good reputation before getting started with them.
Have you pulled your credit reports lately? If not, go to annualcreditreport.com to obtain a free report from all three bureaus. It's free, once per year, or when you've been denied credit. Sit down with your wife and go over those reports, line by line, and make note of any inaccurate information - that can be disputed online.
Best of luck to you - come back and keep us posted! And please post any other questions you may have. :D
