today, a deblt collection attorney / process called my work. my boss got tthe call, and told me right away because they were going to served in papers or file a law suit if i dont call them back right away. so what i did i called them right away and spoked to a guy told me about the money that i ow and they are willing to settle at $350 if i dont pay them right away they will sue me bring it to the court / served me in papers something like that. so i got scared right away. didnt really get all the details, so what i did is i told them that i would pay them on friday. gave my debit card account.. what should i do?.. also, i just recently sign up with care one debt settlement program.. is that a good company any suggestion?..

im from california.

Cancel your debit card immediately!!!

This company broke the law telling your boss they would be suing you! Do you owe the debt?? Is it within statutue of limitations? When was the date of your last payment?

I do not advise using the companies thru debt consolidation care. They are "for profit" programs. If you are considering debt consolidation/management programs, use a non profit like Consumer Credit Counselling Service. If you are considering debt settlement, do it yourself!

i did cancel my debit card.. yea i know i owe some from a payday loan.. they offered me a settlement when they called yesterday. i might have to call them back and get more information about my debt. im just afraid that they might call my work again and threaten pr saying some like that.. " they will serve me "..

careone.com is the debt settlement that i was looking into it because i have some credit cards and pay day loans that i owe. i wanted to consolidate everything into one and just get a debt settlement. so i can start fresh again. when i talk to one of the representative from careone, he said that i owe about $7000 in credit cards which was 4 or 5 years ago. not including the payday loans. so when i check my credit online.
it says that some of the CC that he mentioned was already closed most of them and one active. does it mean they can reopen the case and make a settlement ?

What state do you live in??? The credit card debts might be out of SOL so they cannot sue...no point in paying or settling, especially if the debts have been sold.

If a creditor calls you at work, tell them to CEASE and DESIST from calling your employment, employer, references and other numbers they may have attained According to the FDCPA it is a violation if they call you back when they are told not to do so.
