My husband and I have fallen on hard times in the past few years. We are finally at a point where we can pay all of our normal bills every month and even have some extra money to be able to pay back a debt consolidation loan but now that we messed up our credit in the past, no one wants to give us a chance. We have never had a car or home reposessed but have had credit card issues and a few late payments. Do you know of any lenders who would loan to someone with a credit score of 548? I would appreciate any responses.

sometimes another loan is not the answer, you just have more to pay in the end. you will find an endless supply of help here to get you into a debt consolidation program or a settlement program. in the meantime you need to list what state you are in, what credit cards and how much and how long is the debt, are they in default, etc. do not list any persoanl or any personal numbers. some one with more advise will be with you shortly. just relax, its going to be ok now.

thanks

Welcome to the Community :D Luke is right, taking out a loan sometimes gets you in deeper. If you did find someone, because of your credit scores, the interest would kill you!

Have you tried to talk with your creditors and see if they will lower or drop your interest so you can get caught up? I did this with mine and my sons' and it worked. Alot of them have a hardship type of program where they wil do this, but you have to commit to a payment plan with them. If you signed up for the free credit counseling here, someone will email you from your area and discuss options you may have, such as consolidation. Feel free to ask questions, you aren't alone, and we are here to help..KAren

Also, you didn't mention how long you have had these debts, if you haven't been paying on them for two years then you may be able to settle these yourself for less or work a payment arrangement with them. If you did list all your debts start with the smallest and give them a call, see if you can settle or work and arrangement out, make sure you get them to put this in writing and mail it. But if you start with one and go down the list you may be able to start making progress! Good luck as I'm in the same boat and working, saving to pay my debts off.

Well....some 'feedback' I can give you is this. I am a single mom. My credit scote is 530. I'm slowly, but, surely, paying off 'small' things on my credit. Do you have a Credit Card or something you are financing? if u do, this will help your crdit. Different Deliquent Accounts stay on your credit for so long. I would suggest to get your credit report and look at it. It will read the dates ( of old Deliquent Accounts) in which the account will 'drop off' your credit. The more accounts that 'drop off', the higher your credit score will go. If you have several that will 'drop off' soon, I wouldn't try to pay them off ( that's my opionion, anyway). Just keep working at the others. You 'good credit' will out-weigh' the old credit. Hope this makes sense to you. Hope this helps.
