Hi everyone, my first post. (excellent forum btw.) My husband is in desperate need for a debt solution program, one that will pay his bills on time. Unfortunately this is unavoidable. He owes too much and the interest that they tacked on is just too much and we are hoping to have it cut in half. He's tried to work with one of them but they wouldn't budge.

Anyone use one that they were happy with? As the payments come in and are being applied, does it help raise the credit score?

Thank you so much in advance.

Either you can opt for consolidation program through which you can keep the bills current and it will have a positive effect on your credit in the long run. Pay the principal amount at lower interest rates. Most of the late fees will be waived off from the total amount.

Or, you have settlement option to get the bills reduced to half. But be aware that this program will keep the accounts in default for a certain period of time. It may be six months or more depending upon your account history. You have to make monthly payments opened with the settlement company in a separate account. They will negotiate for a settlement with the creditors. Once the proposal is accepted, the fund from the escrow account will be used to clear the debts.
