debt consolidation/management--question

I received a quote from a debt consolidation place (they contact your creditors, supposedly stop late fees, lower interest) and sadly the monthly payment would be much more than we could afford. Should I try other places or are they basically going to say the same thing? Any thoughts?

I would definitely research other companies. In fact, use the search button at the top of the page to search just this site. I have been with one called T&C (Town & Country Acceptance--in Alabama) and they did not have outrageous fees, etc. They were able to get lower payments, lower interest rates, etc. But, definitely check out other places before you just take the first offer.
