Often there is no paper trail...there are tons of scams out there. Plus you are asking the CA for the validation, not the creditor.

DV confirms that the collector is authorized to collect the debt on behalf of the original creditor. Perhaps you haven't been around long enough to see debtors being contacted by two agencies for the same debt. Validation also confirms the proper accounting of fees and interest that were added to the principal.

It's usually not scammers, just disorganized JDB's (junk debt buyers). You cannot send a DV to anyone other than a JDB/CA. Original creditors are not required by law to acknowledge or respond to it.

Thanks for the clarification. Up to now, I thought DV's were sent to both creditors and CA. There are those that suggest reading the forums for the answers to your questions, yet not everyone hits the nail on the head and not everyone has the time to read every single question and response out there. Thanks again for clarifying this for me.
