i not had my emblem credit cards very long but i like this credit card pretty good the credit card i have been using doesn't increase there credit limits plus on that card i have to pay a yearly fee 84 dollars a year that's 7.00 a month on my first premier card this emblem card from the fresh start program doesn't have no yearly fee and as i signed up on it i sent the i call it starters payment in they wanted 51.00 before they would send me the card out to me so i sent them 60.00 instead of 51.00 i figured that way i would increase my chances of getting my debt payed off a little faster plus at the same time i would get the credit card a little faster they was very fair about it they offered me i think something like 2 months to pay the 51.00 in order to send my credit card to me it was like 20.00 for two months and now my payments are just 20.00 a month they transferred my old debt onto my credit card they credited some of my debt which left me owing 293.00 on my credit card whats great about is that while i am paying off the 293.00 i owe it gave me a great credit card so i now all i have to do is be careful of much i spend on my card

Hello, I just recieved this offer from Jefferson Capitol and i looked to this site for help before i decided to take the offer.I mainly wanted to know if this was some sort of scam.I have read quite a bit of these response and i have decided to take them up on their offer. It seems to me the benefits outweigh anything else i just want this debt gone.

I paid the 250 with the fresh start program and the card showed up in 3 weeks. Made a payment of 50 before the due date and will pay the rest of in the next month. If you pay it down your credit score should increase!!! Try not to use it until you pay it down. Then pay it right back. Treat it like a small debit card and pay it back asap. This will improve your credit score. Also consider getting a secured credit card with a 500 dollar limit. Credit union will be best. My score raised 60 points behind that. I am now a 630 reaching for 700. GOOD LUCK;)

again a card issued by a JDB and only a JDB means they own you pure and simple.i suggest people read the whole thread and not just respond.horror stories at the start of this thread, btw it is about 6 months to two years when they pull the rug out.then since this is a cc run by a JDB there's nothing you can do.again they own you.sorry but alot of you are in for real rude awakening soon.especially the mope above me as if can't spell,or construct a sentence to save your life you shouldn't be lecturing others on anything.

I also received a credit card in exchange for paying off a debt. I received my card. And until recently, made every payment online. I had a hard time paying bills for a couple months, and they offered me 50% off my remaining balance to close the account. I'm pretty happy about their service. I did notice however, that all three of their credit card websites have invalid security certificates. Funny.. :)

Thanks,

I've had my Emblem mastercard for over 6 months. They shipped the card as they said, once I paod the agreed upon amount. Since then no prolbems or horror stories.
They due report to all 3 credit bureaus and received good ratings from them which have helped me get a 2nd credit card from my bank (USAA).

I have carried an emblem card for 3 years. It is pretty straight forward. They (Jefferson) are collecting a debt. I think that it is true that if the state is outside the SOL, the SOL will renew when you agree to pay it. BUT - if the questions are as I think they are: (1) will the debt be cancelled for the discounted payment? (a) yes, SETTLED, not PAID - there is a difference (2) will they (Monterey) really issue you a credit card, unsecured? (a) yes, I just got my replacement card for my expiring card I have had for 3 years. They have given me credit increases until my limit matched their maximum allowed, which is $899.

THE WAY I READ IT: In response to the post containing the court documents, please note that the relationship between Jefferson Capital and Compu-Credit, and the practices they engaged in jointly, is the basis for the suit. The Emblem card or Monterrey Bank is not noted. The "practices" that are mentioned include not disclosing fees and not issuing cards in the time frame promised. All of these things may be happening to people who are settling with Jefferson Capitol with the promise of a credit card from Compu-Credit, but I could find no record of such things happening with the Monterrey Bank and Jefferson Capitol relationship. Jefferson Capitol may be less than reputable, having been mentioned in the suit, but I at this point, I am trusting Monterrey, with experience as my guide, until someone can factually point me otherwise.

I got the emblem card about a year ago, I paid my required amount off and received the card within a week. I finished paying the remaining amount within 6 months and am now just using it as a credit card responsively and it had boosted my credit score several points by having a positive reflection on my credit report. Just know its a credit card which more than likely got you into the debt you are in, so use it responsibly and it will be very beneficial to you. Good Luck

I received my card after I really had given up on the program because of all the negative feedback I had been hearing, but; the balance to the delinquent account I had is on the card and the actual account is not on my credit report anymore. So, it's been a win win situation for me. All of those that it's not working for, I don't know what your doing wrong because it worked for me. :p:p:p:p:p
