I can't believe it! Friday when I got off from work, went home and received an email from the FDIC my bank is closed, no third party took over and I will receive my funds in the mail. It is a horrible feeling, no bank, no money, and have to wait until I receive my money in the mail. Only great thing about this is all of my payday lenders no longer have access to my account.

Believe me I thought about all of that. It was the FDIC, federal agents were outside of my bank Sat morning, the closure made the local paper and news. All of this was done in a matter of fact way. We called the FDIC Fri after receiving the email and were informed that yes the bank was closed, and we would be receiving a check in the mail. All of the local banks today are swamped with people in the same boat as me. Only difference is until I receive my FDIC check or payroll on Fri I have no money. Buzzette

I find that to be very odd. I work at the corporate offices of a bank. The largest one in our area. I suppose they could contact you via your online banking info. It's just been pounded by every other government agency for so long (e.g. the IRS) that you will never be contacted via email regarding these types of things. Who do you bank with?

I was surprised to that we would receive an email from the FDIC. But that is how they do a mass notification. I thought at first it was one of my payday lenders trying to find out a new account number or something.
