I dealt with a young man who answered when i was given a number to call about options on my bill.
At first he was pleasant but after asking me where i spent the money and my personal business, he became rude.
I was late but i cant keep up because they keep adding up my montly balance.
Im 60 years old and dont deserve any young punk speaking to me the way he did.
How can they get away with this? I also get harrasing phone calls from them when my bill is late.

pj they can be rude because you owe them money. unfortunately for these scumbag creditors there is no law that states that they have to be nice when you borrow money from them and don't repay.
just a word of advice though, the longer you are late the more crap you might have to deal with. and if you start avoiding the calls they might start skip tracing your family members.
what kind of balance are we talking about here?
