YOU GO CANNR! It amazes me at how fast this can drain you-emotionally and mentally. I have only been dealing with this for a week and a half maybe and it is really exhausting. Every minute I have available to myself is spent doing a new letter or email to a PDL or researching for an address or trying to find a way to put food on the table for the next two weeks so that we can eat until next payday and then not be able to eat again. It is so draining. So, cannr, the best of luck to you my friend, we know how you feel and hopefully you will get some sort of positive result from your hard work. I, my friend, am not so strong, I called T&C and have them sending me a proposal to look over. KUDOS TO YOU!

Bflow - You had the stregnth to find a way out of your problems! Calling T&C isn't the weak way out! Don't even say it like that!

I have recieved responses through the BBB on MTE and today onUnited. Neither are willing to back down or pif. They are both siting my "form" letter from the internet and offering me a small amount to pay it off $190. on one and $110. on the other...though I felt I had overpaid on both. Not sure which tactic to take at this point. Does anyone have any comments on filing a law suit in civil court against them??

Of course I support you Cannr!!! I am tired of feeling sick over this and still don't know if I'm right?? And I don't seem to be getting any hep from my AG....Good luck sweetie!!!

Thanks Goudah! I didn't mean it to sound like that. It takes strength to deal with a problem and try to do it responsibly. I agree that I owe these people money, shoot, I spent the money. I just can't keep paying what I am. So, for me, T&C seems to be my answer. And actually, it's cheaper than it would have been since I ALREADY CLEARED UP 4 OF THEM MYSELF! :)

You guy are all that! At least I feel like I have some friends and I'm not all alone in this! Of course I'm scared to death that they're going to sick the BIG DOGS on my, but I do have a dachshund that is pretty damn mean. I could just throw her at them! LOL! I appreciate all the encouraging words. That's EXACTLY what I needed. I was beginning to think maybe I am just asking for trouble, but you know what - then I WOKE UP and realized THEY are asking for trouble. Nasty crooked evil people. Thank you all soooo much! At least I have "my team" with me. Now... when I post whining about the responses, don't let me down! LOL! Bflow & Morningstarr, I don't think MTE is going to back down at all. They are going to stick to their "story" and I believe you should also. It's a stand off. They claim their bull crap and we claim the truth. I guess we'll just have to stare each other down and see who gives in first. But I'm not sending them any more money. I do believe I'd rather pay my friggin rent.

Exactly what I suspected would happen, DID, the three PDL's that refuse to either contact me or negotiate hit my account last night and with NO help from my bank, I am screwed. At least I went and took out as much cash as I could get without my car pmt. boucing so that I have expense money. Feeling a little better, but now actually re-thinking the T&C thing, maybe I CAN DO THIS BY MYSLELF. I am going to redraft a new letter and fax them all again on Monday, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! As of this morning, I have now OVERPAID ANOTHER PDL!

bflow, that bites. Your bank is full of weenies. There is no reason in this world they can not work with you. You have unauthorized charges coming out of your account. I thank goodness that I ripped a complaint letter to my bank corporate office and also to the bank branch. That did get results. I got all the pdl debits credited back on. Of course, it was a battle, but it worked. I fought the bank and obviously they saw my point of view. Have you tried ripping a letter to the corporate office? That might help. They contacted me as soon as they received my letter. It took a couple weeks to get it all cleared off - the pdl debits and the bank charges - but it came out to zero. And the hard debit block prevents ANYTHING from going through. Your bank sucks. Now your pdl's got MORE money. Man, I'd be having a total FIT right now if I were you!

Okay, I paid one of these blood sucking pdl's off today. It was one that agreed to my state maximum allowed amount. That's fine by me. I'll pay back what is legally owed. So now I'll just wait to get my PIF letter from them. Next week is another one that will be paid. They also agreed to my state maximum allowed amount. So then they'll send me a PIF letter. So...one more off my butt as of today and another off my butt next week. Lord have mercy! But, if they are cooperative and agree with my state laws, it's cool. So I'm poor now! LOL! Now....these others (MTE, etc.)I'm going to have to go out and buy a Wonder Woman suit and put it on and use my super powers! LOL!

Keep after you bank - mine refused to work with me at all and told me that regardless of how illegal the pdls were that it was my fault that I gave them my info so they would do nothing for me to the tune of
-2k+, that is when they closed my account. I even showed them all of the letters that I had written and complaints that I had filed, but they said that I couldn't prove fraud, so I was on my own. Keep after them.

what's up with your bank? Are these banks crazy or what? I can't believe that it's YOUR money and YOUR account and they won't cooperate with you? It's "your fault" that you have them your information? Hell, we give our bill collectors our information. They can debit the account for what we OWE, not what they WANT! Especially if you've told them they are unauthorized to debit your account further! I'm amazed at this! Are some of these banks in some kind of secret cult with the pdl's?? Makes a person wonder sometimes.............

I know - I even showed them where some states were filing law suits against the pdls as preditory lenders and the just looked at me like I was speaking giberish! I filed a complaint with the banking department here in Ohio but I never heard back. My attorney said not to worry about it because it will be taken care of with my bk. But I did find the name of the corporate officers and I fired off an e-mail to them with all of my correspondence with the complaints filed, the pdls and with the bank. Never heard from them either. Oh well - such is life!

I'm just amazed. I guess I feel lucky. I mean, I had to fight with my bank, but I won. So it was worth it. But is sounds as though you've been fighting HARD and they're still being stupid. Me, personally, being the harrassing person that I am, I'd keep on them regardless. Especially your corporate office of the bank. I understand what your lawyer is saying about not worrying about it, but I'd still be hounding them. Letters, emails. What bothers me the most is when they don't respond. Banks, pdl's, whoever. If I don't get a response, I tend to get pissed and just hound them even more. If they don't answer, I email again and tell them to answer me. They still don't answer, I'll mail a letter and send another email. I'm all about getting an answer, at least. That's the least they can do. Thank God I didn't have a bank account where you guys have been banking at. I think I would have been standing at their front door waiting for them. Oh...never mind. I did do that at my bank. I was waiting for them to unlock the door so I could go off! LOL!

I kept after them for a while and all of the pdls that owed me money, but after a while I just got too busy with other things. I used to e-mail MTE and Nationwide at least 4 or 5 times a day demanding - yes demanding that the refund what I over paid. I sent them the state laws, the federal laws on from the ftc, banking laws regarding usuary, I even reported them to the FBI and cc'd them with the complaint that is when they stopped calling me.

Oh, really? MTE is hot on my ass. I've got 3 pdl's with them (which they claim is not them; however, it is). And I've been fighting the fight with them. The BBB is going between us now, but neither of us is backing down. I've already filed with the attorney general, but I know that takes time. So in the meantime, MTE is driving me INSANE! How did you file with the FBI? That's one I haven't done yet. And I thought I'd filed with every agency around! LOL! Let me know. I'm extremely interested in how to get MTE to lay off!

That happened to me too....my bank wouldn't help or didn't know how...whatever...now they finally closed the account after I owe them $1600. in overdraft fees and achs they paid...whew!! I wrote corporate about 10 days ago and still have not heard a word.

I went to their web site and filed a claim of interstate fraud. I filed on line and then I cc'd MTE with a copy of the complaint. I also filed a complaint with Homeland Security. If you go to their web site look for the ICE department that is where I filed the complaint - they investigate cyber crimes (thisis a cyber crime isn't it?) and cc'd MTE with that complaint. I did the same for Nationwide. The were both claiming that I owed them money something in the range of 800.00+ each on a 200.00 loan! I THINK NOT! Ifigured that the more government complaints that I filed the less of a leg they had to stand on. I also e-mailed 20/20; 60 minutes; dateline; 48 hours and inside addition and I put the nasty e-mails that I had received from the pdls as an attachment. But I know that I am not the only one here who has done al of this, Kyside has been so diligent that she has her ag really working to get these places shut down.

irish, you are my new hero! I just got the biggest charge out of your post! You have got to be one not to mess with! File, file, file, complain, complain, complain, fight, fight, fight! Oh, just more inspiration for me to go on! These kind of posts are what keep me going! Thanks for the tips on filing with FBI. I have with the cyber internet site, but never cc'd the pdl's. Stupid me. I do believe it's internet crime, personally. So I filed. But the FBI one is great! That is now on the top of my "to do" list of pdl actions! And to report them to the news! How incredibly creative and awesome is that? I love it! And, morningstarr, if you wrote to your corporate office of your bank 10 days ago and haven't had a response, call them. I sent my letter to the bank president at the corporate office. Write them again. Call them. I called my customer service number and they gave me all the information for the bank president. Didn't take me more than 2 minutes to start on them! And, if you need incentive or inspiration to keep on fighting, just read irish's post! It's incredible! How totally awesome!

Believe me - if it hadn't been for Mishele,Kyside, Fins, SueBee, Brownsugar, Ari, JediJeff, Dbaker,Jesse and others here I wouldn't have known that the pdls were illegal and that I had the right to question and fight. I came here just like you and was seriously thinking about ending it all. I was scared and sick and didn't even have the money to put gas in my car for work. The pdls had hit my account so badly that in one day they took my paycheck, my bonus check and my child support check and left my account overdrawn by a couple of hundred dollars. Everyone here took me by the hand and walked me through what I needed to to and slowly but surely I started to gain the back bone that I had lost back. The pdls were sucking the ligfe out of me. I am not a stranger to debt, I have been in debt most of my adult life, but most of it was and is due to the medical problems that my first husband had and the medical problems that one of my children had. So the collection calls did not scare me. In fact the first one that I got from one of the pdl companies, the guy told me that I should pack a suitcase because they would come and take me to jail. I replied that I had 6 kids and I hated my job and I needed the rest - when should I expect them to come and get me. He hung up and never called back.

Oh, irish, I just love you to death! I love the fact that you can make me laugh out loud regarding all this crap! And, you're right. Before these wonderful people showed me the light also, I was at my wit's end thinking I was totally screwed and would never have a paycheck again. I love what you told your pdl. How great! I swear, if I answer a call from them, I'm going to use your tactics! I usually just don't even answer their calls. They can dial my number all they want. Blood suckers.

I ahd a child who was very ill and spent 75% of the last 10 years of his life in a very well known hospital. Because of the type of illness tha the had we had accrued millions of dollars in hospital bill, for which we had no insurance. With the help of medicaid most of his bills were covered and I never saw a bill. But when they put in a new computer system our name popped up as having an outstanding balance, so the billing department called me one day and ask me how I was going to pay the balance. I ask the girl how much the balance was and she replied - 6 hundred thousand 4 hundred 85 dollars and 69 cents, I told her that I would write a check. There was compleate silence on the other end of the phone and then she said Oh. I then told her I would get a hold of my sons social worker and get back to her - never got another call, but when my son died I did recieve a statement that took about three envelopes and the outstanding bill was in the millions 4 million+ to be exact. I am still waiting on that collection call! I will have a check waiting for them too!

Irish, that is the funniest thing I've ever heard. I'm going to use that one! You are so crazy. Cannr, that is how I've been feeling, screwed! Thank god, my husband makes an ok check, but, we have still been robbing peter to pay paul each month, well, GIRLS, NOT NO MORE!! We are paying what we have to and the rest can stand in line, you can't get blood from a turnip!

First off, I am so sorry to hear your story. My heart is breaking. Please let me offer my condolences to you. You poor woman. That bill is completely outrageous. And I'm enraged that they would even send that to you. You're responses to these people are priceless. You've got strength. You should be an inspiration to everyone on here.

Sooo sorry for your loss Irish! How in the lord's name can they even think that after your loss; it's appropriate to send that to someone as if it's even feasible for a normal person to be able to pay that.

Thank you for the kind thoughts, but believe me I would not begrudge the hospital one dime - and if I had the money I would gladly pay them. They were fantastic in the treatment that my son received and were very agressive with the FDA concerning a specific medication that the FDA denied us. They went beyond the call of duty and reached world wide to get what we needed to try and make my son better. They made sure that everything that was imaginable was done, so we were very lucky. This bill wasn't a bad thing - it just proved to me that he was as priceless to the hospital as he was to me, but that won't stop the comuter from kicking out a bill and sending it to collections one day.

I know that if it were me in that situation, I have three kids of my own, I would pay every last cent I had if it even gave me the hope that it would make things better.
However, I work in healthcare and I can tell you that the charges are INSANE! My son broke his hand and most of the time in the ER we just sat, only saw a nurse practitioner for a few minutes, until the x-ray was read, then she said 'yep its broke" put a splint on it, told me to follow up with a spec. and sent me home $545 billed just for her, $700 for the ER, $900 in x-rays, $50 for a splint (I could have bought at Walmart for $10), etc. Thank GOD I WORK THERE AND OUR INSURANCE WILL COVER IT 100% EXCEPT FOR ANY CO-PAYS. I think I ended up even with spec. bills (he's our employee) paying $55 out of my pocket for the whole thing.
Healthcare is absolutely skyrocketing...I don't know how these families that make little to nothing can even afford to have it, but I sure know that you can't afford not to.

See that is what makes me so angry about the pdls! So many of us here are living pay check to pay check anyway - just trying to make ends meet and then some type of emergency strikes and we think well - I will only take out one pdl. Then things escalate - you have food, rent, utilities, medical bills that are outrageous and then you add in the fees from a gazzillion pdls and to top it of some clown comes here and says "PAY YOUR BILLS!" And you would love to pay your bills - the legal ones - but your account is so overdrawn that you can't even buy a newspaper if you wanted to and you are searching in the furniture to find enough change to get put gas in the car so that you can get to work and some bozoo in India is calling you telling you you owe 1k on a 200.00 loan. Like they are going to see it!

Cannr - I was just on the FBI's web site - they have one area that is just for complaints against internet companies. You have to go there and file a complaint. Wait until you see it!

Irish...I find it amazing the strength you have after life has thrown you the worst curve ever. It is reading words like yours that can keep other women strong. You are an inspiration to all of us. That you could continue on after all that has come to you...makes my little complaints and issues so unimportant. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Thank you Morningstarr, but no ones problems are unimportant. You would not want to walk in my shoes and I would not want to walk in yours. It has taken me years and experience to find the strenghth and the courage that I have today and tons of faith and prayers. But there are two things that I have learned and have to keep remindig my self of and thos are don't sweat the little things and pick your battles. Two very hard things, but I try to remember these two things - sometimes on an hourly basis - but i helps me get though the day. And there are just some thing that can't be changed so don't try - it takes too much energy! This is how I make it through my life - which some days seems like a Lifetime movie!

Write to the corporate office of your bank and tell them that you are filing a complaint with the OCC and copy the manager of the branch. Watch how fast you get results. Is it a national bank?

Wow, what a powerful post!! As i sit here reading this tears stream down my face.... It's SO easy to get caught up in the small day to day trials and tribulations that we forget the "BIG" picure! The most important things in life, our families, our health and our faith!! Everything else means nada, it can all be replaced if need be!
What a great eye opener for a Monday morning! thanks to all of u on this site. It has truly been a blessing to me.

POWER to every one on this site. We are all together in this and everything else. We are all in similar situations. With everyone's knowledge and support, we can get through this. Just read what these people post. Read their advice. Realize their knowledge. And, also, know that this may be a huge issue in your life and it is aggrevating and consuming, but then smack yourself and remember your family, your kids, your friends, the sunshine, your pets, etc...... That's what makes every day worth while. These pdl's can try to make our lives hell, but we have each other to lean on. And remind each other to take a breather and check out that beautiful sunset or look into your loving dogs eyes or hug your kids when they run to you.
