While I wish you luck, I was under the impression that the AG does not pursue companies for fines/penalties payable to the consumer--you'd have to obtain your own attorney for that. I just filed a complaint against a telemarketer for deceptive business practices, and I swear I read something to that effect in the online form.

An attorney general cannot go after your personal interests in a case. The best he can do is mediate a settlement offer between the two parties.I would suggest you stick to your guns about having items removed from credit report. If you desire money damages, you will have to bring your case to an attorney so they can file the case in Federal court.

Well in the state of WV the Attorney General does not represent individivual consumers. But in case of Illegal companies and they do reach a settlement with the state money is disbursed to the consumers. You can go to http://www.wvrecord.com or the AG website for WV to check this one out. I know that other state AG follow suit. In Colorado for instance Quik Payday paid back over 2 million to consumers. The AG office was the one that got this settlement folks. Send those complaints in to everyone that you can think of. The more complaints the better. The Attorney Generals know the state laws that is what they are there for. KYSIDE38

Also please keep in mind that the Attorney Generals office is called Consumer Protection that handles these issues. They can mediate these issues for you. Also there is a law group that deals with consumer issues. I think Moon has a link on the bottom of her page for it. KYSIDE38

When enough consumers complain the AG starts paying attention, that is usually when they go after them and get refunds for groups of consumers. They will contact the companies and follow up with your complaints. I was successful with my complaints to my AGs office, it just took them contacting the ipdl companies letting them know they were investigating my complaint and they marked me paid in full and left me alone. They don't want to catch the eye of the state government.

I understand where many people are coming from. AG will not go to court and represent an individual but as Steelers posted they do help. KS is right also California is a lot bigger state than WV all we got here is the AG and I am thankful for them. JUST COMPLAIN TO SOMEBODY FOLKS!!!! Be a avenger. KYSIDE38

CA's Dept. of Corp. had a list of 40 ipdls they ordered to cease and desist operating and loaning to CA consumers, and that list probably has grown since Sept. But from new people that come here, I believe that some of the companies ordered to cease and desist in CA continue to loan monies to CA consumers, because since that time, others from CA have come on here complaining about ipdls that were on the cease and desist order.
