Help! Through years of living and spending, my wife and I are now asking for help from someone to help us get our financial life straightened out. We always thought that as we have progressed through our careers and made more money that this problem would go away. As you can tell since I am here, that isn't the case. Oh we do make more money, but we owe a lot as well. Our latest venture had us moving to New Jersey about a year ago to the jobs of our dreams. THe jobs are great, but we now are living in a high tax, high every state and buying a house is impossible with our financial situation. Our income is about $180,000 combined and we owe $60,000 in bad debt. Where do we start, any help or advice is greatly appreciated. THanks.

Get more information on each debt account. Pull your latest credit copy and go through each of the account listed there. You will know if there are any inaccuracies to be disputed. Besides, some of them might be too old to appear in your credit copy or already past the SOL period. You can't have any legal actions for such debts.

Once you have all the details, start calling your creditors and put your payment proposals. You can make them work on your terms. Follow these steps and you will see yourself getting debt free.
